Noelle Stryder;

Could you ever have gone so far, just to save the life of a child you love so much? Noelle knew no boundaries. Her life was now clouded around the 12 year old child that ran through the asles of an anime store, jumping with joy. If only he understood our life now. The dangers of wandering this part of China. Noelle never payed attention to the cities there travled to-- just the country. This part of China seemed to not get much sun-- or maybe it was going to rain. Either way, it was dark enough for the infected to come for their kill.

Noelle's eyes looked away from the anime store, a heavy sigh escaping her thin lips. Then, in the sudden flicker of light, Noelle noticed a small piece of paper. She eyed it curiously. Noelle walked over to the puddle the piece of paper landed in and picked it up, her icy blue eyes tracing over the words.

Hello,

My name was Yurri Lee. I was a survivor of the Butterfly living in China. To whoever gets this, Peace be with you...

Noelle could feel the sorrow flood her. The letter had a few spots of blood on it. Not old-- maybe a day. A day... Noelle glanced at the water then looked up, there was a bridge that towered over the street. Her eyes looked down at the water again, taking a step forward. She could see the slight shimmering of some type of fabric. Did the girl kill herself? Noelle stepped closer, seeing a bit more. The girl was wearing a white dress, coated in blood. the water around the area was red as well. Noelle gasped suddenly when she saw the girl's face. It was completely coated in blood and her neck was ripped open. Who had done this was simple... Infec--

A scream ripped through her throat. Noelle heard it come quickly, the small sound of something going off. Some small string wrapped around her leg and pulled her leg up. She gasped as her head hit the road, and she was pulled up more into the air. The only thing she could see was the face of Yurri Lee... dead in the water.

Laughing startled Noelle, making her look in the direction of the laughing. She didn't see a figure-- she didn't know what was happening-- she just knew she needed to get Cody... and fast. Noelle quickly pulled the knife from the belt around her thigh and started cutting at the string, not exactly successful-- it was wire. It was then that Noelle's ancle started to burn, and blood started to trickle up her leg. She gasped, cutting faster now.

"You know, you do have very sweet blood..." a voice said. Noelle could feel a cry burst through her lips at the increasing pain, something was making the wire tighter and her moving to cut the wire wasn't helping. "Sweet blood, and a pretty face. Aren't you the total package?" the voice continued. Then finally-- FINALLY-- Noelle cuts through the wire, falling fast and hitting the puddle, landing on Yurri's body. Noelle screamed, feeling the slimy and hard remains of Yurri. She stood up quickly and found herself unable to fully stand on her right leg. She instantly pulled her gun out and made a break for the anime store.

"Cody!" she yelled, running quickly and panting hard. The pain was increasing on her leg, that wire could of cut off her foot, "Cody!!" Noelle was nearly crying now.

Suddenly she was brought down, a body hovering over her. Noelle was screaming, clearly very loud. She didn't take time to look the stranger in the face. All she got was a blurr of gray skin moving to the right when Noelle thrusted her gun to the side to hit the blurr. She heard the Infected groan-- a deep groan too... Male? Noelle didn't care at all, she ran out of there faster than a bat out of hell.

"Cody!" Noelle yelled again, taking her car keys out of her back pocket.

Cody was comming out of the anime store, a huge stack of books in his hands and a Roxas action figure. He looked at Noelle in shock, obviously wondering why Noelle was screaming.

"Run!" was all Noelle could say to him, but Cody too was knocked down by another Infected being. Noelle could tell this one was female by the sound of her cry as she attacked Cody. 'No!" Noelle screamed, hearing Cody making cries and struggling to get something beside him-- possibly to hit the female infected with? Just as Noelle approched her brother and the infected woman, she hit the infected as hard as she could in the back of its head, "Get the fuck off of him!!" she screamed and shot the infected woman in the head a good 3 times. She grabbed Cody, pulling him up aggrassivly and shoving him forward, "Get in the car!" she commanded.
"But Noelle--" Cody argued.
Noelle cut him off, "Get in the car!" she threw her keys at him and turned around, looking for the male infected.

Rey had stalked the vehical for sometime now and watched as two figures jumped in the car. "What? Were those infected? Well that would be no good to me...I need that car..." He asked himself. He looked through his scope mounted on the M4 and put on his banaclava that he had aquired years ago. He sighted the car, then verried back off to the left. He saw another figure standing outside. "If i mow them down one at a time, it may be easier to kill them..." He mentioned to himself. He took a deep breath and aimed through the scope as he was taught to snipe by the Spetz. Boom. He had shot though the head of the woman standing outside of the vehical. Now was his chance. He took out his PSS and rushed the vehical in a crouched manner. He held his gun up to the car window, turned on the handgun light. "Freeze u infected bit--" He stopped and examined the figures closely realizing they only squinted at the light rather then screamed in pain.

Nicolii paused, the blood curling scream of terror ringing in his ears. What the...? With lightning quick movement and reasoning, Nicolii turned and rushed into the night. You never leave a scream unanswered. Ever. Or at least in Nicolii's book. Of course, Nicolii had a full book of many strange things and ideals. But, this was one of them.

That's when the unforgettable, sweet smell of that human met his nostrils. Noelle? What was she doing out here? Did she have a death wish? And who was attacking her. Obviously some hungry Infected, right? Nicolii couldn't wait to bash the bastards head in. He knew it wasn't Lillith or even Jasper. Dominic maybe? Someone he doesn't know? Possibilities rushed his head, only causing his legs to push harder for speed. That's when the the sight of a car came into view as he rounded a corner. A man stood outside, and the scent of the two Stryder siblings was strongest here. With a mighty leap, Nicolii tackled the man outside the window and pinned him to the ground. A quick survey of the man, however, revealed it was not an Infected. Plus, the dead body of an infected being was not far off. Oh. Oops?

With a loud apology, Nicolii released the man and stood up. "Sorry. I thought you were...." he turned to peer into the car. Noelle and Cody, sure enough, were inside. He blinked. "Noelle? Cody? I knew that was you. That scent of yours is infamous in the Infected house now. I thought he was attacking you." Oh, back to the man. "I'm really sorry. I didn't know you saved her. I thank you greatly for that, though. I'm Nicolii." he blurted rather out of the blue. He raised a hand for Rey to shake. "I mean no one here any harm. See, these humans are my friends, and my Leader demands they be kept safe." Was Nicolii babbling? Seriously? How sad. Realizing this fact, Nicolii shut his trap and instead looked around, taking in the scene.

The wind carried the scent of the infected girl. He didn't know who it was. At least that was somewhat good. He didn't want it to be Lillith or someone he knew. He looked back at Rey. "Good shot." he jabbed a thumg at the corpse and smiled. Rey must think Nicolii was crazy. What kind of Infetced host goes around protecting humans, getting along with them and not caring when an Infected was killed. Much less, able to ignore the scent of Noelle. Then again, Rey couldn't smell Noelle like Nicolii could. Damn shame. It was a delightful scent.

Rey lowered his guard as Nicolii explained to him that he wasn't to harm the girl or him for the matter. He looked him over and rasied his handgun again still cautious. "You're...You're to protect them?" Rey was still trying to grasp at this fact then reality hit him and he took stance. "But you don't have a reason not to kill me where i stand! I didn't come here just to be infected!" With adrenaline pumping, Rey had a rush in which he loved to feel...Combat high...Any minute he's going to spring at me, but me being the quicker draw, i could kill him only wasteing half a clip...Maybe he's just lieing this whole thing? Is that girl an infected too? Do they develope to the light? Rey's head spun with riddled thoughts of reasons to kill and or die where he stood. When if came down to it an impulse to live came to him which ment...Run...
Now with a plan quickly thought out, Rey grinned at Nicolii and raised his trigger hand off the gun, to reach into his backpack. With his other hand in the same instant, he turned on the handgun's flashlight, then finally to finish his motion, he pulled out a flash granade to his mouth, pulled the pin, dropped it, and started to run, not looking back.
A lit area! I need to find a place that's safe! But where? Rey thought to him self as he rounded the corner and darted down the street. This hellhole probally has no light! I need to get out of the open though... Rey stopped at an ally way. He looked down into the ally, then back onto the street. More then likely, the infected reside there! No good... Rey now ran further down the street and into a random shop. He looked out the window, then his focus set onto a dark corner. The...Enemy? Could it be here? Rey looked around for anything. He noticed he had stepped into what seemed to be an old pawn shop. There were two glass cases. One was broken into with nothing in it, the other, had some stray bullets left sitting on the shelves. Rey took out his M4 and checked the magizine. 14...No, 13 shots left...And they don't have ammo for a Russian PSS...I don't think anyways...Take and leave the area? Seems like the idea... Rey put the M4 away, the took out his handgun again...He turned on the flashlight toward the dark corner...Nothing. He sighed and calmed down a bit. He opened the glass caseing, or what was left of it and examined the bullets. A match. He could fire those off if nessisarry. "Not the best but..." He remarked to himself, and put them into the ammo clip. He turned and headed back into the street, creeping slowly as to not be noticed...Rey needed to get out of the city.

Noelle caught a slight red line comming from some unknown area. What the Infected there? She instantly started shooting and walking a bit forward. Nothing happened. No screaming, just the sound of bullets hitting the walls. Noelle sighed and lowered her guns, looking around. This was all so confusing, she just wanted to fucken leave now. Noelle looked back at the car-- unstarted. "Damn kid.." she muttered to herself and called to Cody, "You were supposed to start the car idiot!"
Cody poped his head out the window, "I didn't know!"

Noelle sighed heavily. Honestly that kid got on her nerves so much these days. She walked forward-- a bad thing to do and the Infected male jumped out at her. He tackled her down, but didn't get much attack in-- Noelle was a bit faster. She raised her gun and shot the male in the face 5 times.

Cody had gotten out of the car now, running for Noelle. She justed glared at him, "Will you ever listen to me!? Get in the--"
"No! There's another infected!" He pointed over to a car, near where Noelle saw the red beam. She growled and lifted her gun again, "Get in the car Cody."
"No!" Cody held up a gun too, "I'm comming with you."
"Where the hell did you get that!"
"In your car..." Cody admited.
Noelle sighed, "Fine, but don't do something stupid."

Noelle walked forward, Cody right behind her holding up his gun in the same fasion as his sister. Noelle's eyes were narrowed, only focused on one point. The infected male that seemed to be talking to another person-- Also infected?

Once approching them, Noelle pulled the trigger to get their attention. Then and pulled out her other gun and pointed it at Nicolii, then the other at Rey. Her blue eyes shinning brightly, "Okay! Who fucken had a beam on me?" she asked, being cut off by Rey dropping a bomb and runing off. Noelle was so irritated right now. She stepped forward and kicked the damn thing over to the open door of a wal-mart. Hey, at least that would kill alot of infected so Noelle could steal some supplies....

However, once Noelle kicked the bomb, she ran after Rey-- thrusting her gun at him and knocking him to the ground. Her eyes were glaring, looking like a goddess ready to kill. Her gun was pointed at him, "You know, I take good pride in being able to steal that Jetta. And I quite like it too. But when my little brother is in it, Oh dude you better wish you weren't pointing that fucken gun at me!"

Noelle set her gun to ready and stared coldly into his eyes, "Who are you." she commanded-- obviously far from a question. If you looked at Noelle correctly, she was slightly limping on her right leg, blood had stained the bottom part of her jeans as well.

When Rey hit the ground his combat high came straight back at him. She had him pinned. He looked down to his M4 still in his hands and loaded. He pointed it at her foot and tried to pull the trigger. The gun wouldn't fire. The trigger was stuck too. Ugh...I just can't win today... Rey thought. He looked up at the girl and realized she couldnt be an infected, for she had a gun pointed directly at him, but did not shoot. Rey sighed and stared down the barrel and spoke catiously. "If your gonna shoot me, you should do it quickly, or i will get up..." He tried to sound threatenly, knowing there was no use. "But if your going to torture me before death, or worse, could u do me a small favor? Take my banaclava off and spare me of shooting up my face? I'd like to die as honorably as possible." He crept his hand to his pant leg, and gripped at his survivle knife. It was his last option if he could move fast enough. "As for a name...Normally one calls me Rey, or Rey Rey...But infected? They call me death..." Rey, pulls out the knife, and trips her over easily. She didn't weight alot to him. He used one hand to pull the gun across her body so it pointed away, and his other to put the knife at her neck. "Now, before i send u to hell...Who are you? And why is an infected useing a gun? Are u not a host? You look scrawny enough to be one!" He pressed the knife close to her skin.

Noelle watched him curiously. Rey huh? Interesting name, she guessed. Not something she really cared for. This guy tried to kill Cody's only life source-- herself. Anyone willing to steal the life of a little boy's only source of life was bound to be shot in the face. Noelle had no intention of NOT shooting this guy in the face. He was going to shoot here there. Why should she spare him?

Suddenly her ankle ached like hell! Noelle gasped, a slight cry escaping her thin lips as she hit the ground hard. In seconds Rey was ontop of her, a knife at her neck and her gun just seconds away from being out of her hand. Noelle could hear her brother calling her name, and screaming curse words at Rey like there was no tomorrow. Noelle realized then that she shouldn't curse so much around Cody. It was becomming a bad influence.

Rey shot questions at her-- reallys stupid ones too. Her crystal blue eyes glared at him, "Are you fucken stupid!?" she yelled angerly, struggling under his strong grip. This dude was going to crush her. Honeslty, Noelle was strong but she was STILL scrawny, "Host!?" she asked in question. That was the dumbest question he asked her. Hello! Did he not know anything about the Infected? Weather a Host takes over the body of a human it is still slightly easy to tell the difference between a host-human and a regular human. there was no way a Host could hide eye color. The red would shine through the regular human color.

Noelle growled angerly, "My name is Noelle Marie Stryder." she said through her teeth, "I'm not infected as you may tell by my fucken eye color. Now you better let me go-- I swear if you take my life infront of my little brother I'll haunt you till you beg for hell!"

Cody glanced at Nicolii, then to his sister. He knew Noelle cared about him-- but this much? Cody looked angry and walked away from Nicolii-- over to Rey now, "Leave her alone!" he cried, holding up a gun. "Didn't your mother teach you not to hurt a girl!? She's hurt you son of a bitch!"

Noelle sighed, okay-- yeah she seriously needed to stop cursing around him. And he was telling the truth. Rey's shoes were pressing aganist the wire cuts on her ankle....

Rey panted and looked over to Cody then back to Noelle. He looked into Noelle's eyes, almost hypnotised by their color. "Not? Infected?" He asked himself. His adrenaline rush was slowly seeping out of his system. He calmed down. His sight returned to Cody. He got off of his sister slowly, spread his arms out and moved away from Noelle, as if to surrender. He slowly pulled his banaclava mask off and stared into Cody's eyes. "Put down that gun rookie..." He said almost dissapointed. "First off, you don't have what it takes to shoot me...That, and your safety is still on." Rey dropped his arms, put away his knife, and wiped the beads of sweat from his face. The he rolled his neck from side to side, makeing a painful cracking sound in his neck. Suddendly reality sunk in. "Wait...Your...We're...Humans? Im not alone?" He questioned bluntly looking over Cody then back to Noelle. He kneeled down and examined Noelle's wound. "You bled alot...We need to stop the bleeding if we are going to keep your ankle attached. I know what your thinking right now, but your going to have to trust me to keep your ankle." Rey was in a mix of feelings. Overjoyed he found another human or two, but guilty he had hurt them.

Cody glared at him, "Shut up and get off of her!" Noelle had never heard her brother sound so strong. It made her proud that he wanted to save her for once instead of the other way around. She looked up at Rey, trying to read his emotions. How did she feel that she found another human? Was she overjoyed? She wasn't sure. The heat of approching death was still burning in her pale skin.

Cody was looking at the gun now, like he had to see for himself. He gasped-- completely annoied, "Nims! That's not fair!"
Noelle sat up once Rey got off of her, "Cody, I told you your not allowed to use guns. Just 'cause I tought you to use one doesn't mean you get to steal mine..."
Cody lowered the gun and pouted-- walking over to His sister and still glaring at Rey.

Noelle looked at Rey, her icy blue eyes looking cold-- but strangly a bit more sympathetic, "No, you're not alone." she sighed, offering her hand to shake as a surrender, "I'm Noelle, this is my little brother Cody...."

Cody still looked irritated with Rey, he crouched down by his sister and pulled her pant leg up, revealing the swirls going up halfway to her knee. Cody made a face and glare dat rey, "What did you do to her!?"
Noelle shook her head, "Cody it wasn't him. That Infected guy I killed a second ago did it I think. He set up a trap."
Cody looked over at the dead infected male, "So... you blew his head off?"
Noelle smiled, "Yes..."

Noelle then looked back at Rey, her russian features looking a bit confused, "So I was going to loose my foot?" she asked, feeling a bit sad. What if she did? How would Cody get through this with her without good support? She could hardly pull herself around without food...

Rey looked away for a second, then back at Noelle's ankle. He reached into his backpack and took out a Med-Kit. He looked at it grimly. "I can save your foot...But it may hurt a bit...And even after i do this, we still would need to get you a few more things to make sure your ok..." He set the kit next to Noelle and rummaged through it. There is just enough to save her...But not enough to keep it that way... Rey thought. He looked around for a moment at the local shops. His eyes rested on a ruined Wal-Mart. "Yea...Again, i can save your foot, but you must trust me." He stared into Noelles eyes with concern.

Noelle sighed and stared at him-- her eyes hard and still a bit cold. She obviously wasn't a weak person. Most girls with a wound like this would be crying. It was easy to see that the water was building up in Noelle's eyes but nothing fell.

Cody smiled, "Noelle doesn't trust very easil--"
"I trust you." Noelle said clearly, yes-- she was a strong girl.
Cody looked stunned, "WHAT?"
Noelle glared at her brother, "Cody, I can't protect you if I'm wounded. Let him fix me up okay?"
Cody growled, "Fine..."
Another sigh from Noelle, "We'll go back to the anime store-- and Game World." she smiled.
Cody's eyes lit up instantly, "Really!? Can we steal an PS3?"
Noelle smiled, "Sure, not will you let the nice man help your sister?"
Cody nodded happily, "Sure!" and he ran off.
Noelle's eyes narrowed, "Make sure you turn all the lights on!!"
"Okay!" Cody yelled cheerfully.
Noelle sighed and glanced back at Rey-- her eyes a bit shy, "Kids..."

Kids huh? Noelle was a kid herself wasn't she? Yeah, Noelle was only 16 years old. But seeing as though they lost their parents 2 years ago, the demand for maturity was high. Noelle must not have gotten a good dose of normal teen life really. She seemed so much older for her age. Cody was taking a toll on her youth. But hey, it's what's needed to save someone you love. Even if you are so young.

Rey watched as Cody ran off, and smiled at Noelle's remark. His smile faded though as he looked off to the ground and remembered his own childhood. Rey shook his head. "Okay..." He said, "I'll start your treatment...Two things...You got to hold still and take one of these while i treat you..." He reached into the med kit and held out a pill. "This is diapezamine...Normally, one takes it to releive some stress, thus makeing snipeing easier for your hands shake less...But in this case, it will act as a way for you to settle down and feel less pain." Rey handed the pill to Noelle, and held out his canteen, and a syringe. Ok...This shot should help your pain enough for you not to die screaming...But it will still hurt..." Rey stuck the shot close to Noelle's wound and injected it quickly. Next, Rey took out some disenfectant and splashed it on her wound, then took out a needle and thread. He kept his gaze away from Noelles face, knowing she much be suffering. He bit down hard on the thread after sowing her ankle back up. To finish he took out a styril pad and a bandage, and wrapped her ankle. He looked at his kit, and threw it to the side, now that it was empty. He finally looked up at Noelle and asked, "Hanging in there?" He grimaced knowing she must be in pain.

Noelle nodded shyly, taking the pill and the canteen. For a moment, she wondered how much it would hurt. She didn't want to seem like a wussy little girl and scream infront of him. That wasn't Noelle at all. She was strong for her age, but honestly this cut were bugging the shit out of her. It burned-- it actuall reminded her of a time she cut her finger deeply when helping her mother cook dinner.

She gasped, cringing slightly as Rey shot her up. Noelle looked away, bracing for the pain to come-- and it came fast. The pill didn't exactly work much per say. It felt like it made the wound burn more. Like hell was moving to her ankle. Noelle closed her eyes and made a wimpering sound that she tried to hide.

Rey studied her face and grimaced again. He looked down at her ankle to make sure everything was alright with the patch job. I know it hurt alot...But she will be ok... Rey thought to himself. He looked back up to her. "Noelle..." He started. He knew she must be in alot of pain. "Noelle...Tell me a bit about yourself...Try to take the pain off your mind, til the wound settles." Rey paused and asked, "Do u know of any other humans? Have you found anyone else?" Rey looked dead into Noelles face, noticeing a tear, he moved to her side and gripped her hand. "If you squeeze hard enough, it will help..." He said queitly.

Noelle sighed, her breath a bit shacky like he was holding something back. A cry or scream maybe? She wasn't going to let herself look weak right now. She was so strong the past two years, why ruin it now?

Rey told her too keep her mind off the pain. She wasn't sure how to do that untill he mentioned to tell him about herself. Noelle wasn't sure what there was to tell really... he life wasn't too interesting. Rey then sat next to her and gripped her hand. The gesture made her blush. The only other person that ever did that was Cody, and that was only when he was scared. Noelle could feel the heat flowing to her pale face-- adding a normal color to her skin.

She looked down and squeezed his hand a bit, "Well I'm sixteen. My brother's only twelve. Umm... My father got infected and killed my mother. Cody and I have been alone for two years now. I live in Siberia, Russia... uhh... The only other human I've met is a little girl. Her name's Delilah. She's the daughter of an Infected Wanderer that found me stealing from some house in Mongolia."
